M6515 Me-Made-May '15 (#5 of 10)

Hey Y'all

One thing I'm loving right now is the wide leg, loose fitting easy make, easy wear type of pant. I love them whether they have an elastic waist or if they have a waistband and zipper (although my invisible zipper installation still leaves a bit to be desired). I still cant figure out why my invisible zipper does not turn out "invisible" but I'm gonna continue to work on it.

Pattern Description: Pants have contour waistband, side zipper, narrow hem and various width variations.

Pattern Sizing: I made size Large. View C

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, I think so

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, they were pretty simple to follow along with

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like that this pattern only had 4 pattern pieces (the lessor number of pattern pieces the more likely I am to make, and finish a garment with minimal errors.)  I'm kinda lazy like that.

Fabric Used: A lightweight black and white polka dot poly blend that I have had for a while now.

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any alterations. I sewed this straight from the envelope. The next time I make this pattern I will add side pockets ( I really love pockets in pants) and I will lengthen maybe 3 inches or so. I can only wear this pair with flats because they are barely long enough. If I wore these with heels they'd  prob be ankle length and I desire a pant like this to at least graze the top of my shoe.

Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will be sewing this again. I will be sewing these up again soon I suspect.

Conclusion: I really like these pants. I love how airy and comfortable they are.

I forgot to get pics without the vest, The back of this tank was so cute. I threw the jean vest on top of the tank because I had a early Saturday morning meeting at church and this was a racer back tank with exposed silver zipper . I like to stay moderately modest when I'm in the church building. Even though it was not a Sunday and our church is pretty casual I feel there should still be some discretion (in terms of dressing) used in certain places.
It was a seriously windy day when I took these pics. Look how the pants are blowing in the wind.

I met for brunch with some girlfriends this day. A few hours later one of them called and said "Hey where did you get those pants? I want to look for some like that!"
That's a indication these pants were a success!

Have a Great day..
See y'all later

Me-Made-May'15- I took the (modified) Pledge!

Hey Y'all so for the last couple of years during this time I would see floating around the blogisphere mention of MMM'14('13)('12).. At the time I didn't quite know exactly what the challenge consisted of. But, now I do.

Its a challenge, initially created by a blogger Zoe where a person vows to wear something hand made everyday for the month of May. This challenge can be modified to fit your lifestyle and such. The entire challenge can be found here on this blog

I decided to take the challenge but had to curtail it to fit my lifestyle and available sewing time (or lack thereof). I wear scrubs to work so it was unrealistic for me to vow to wear something 'me made'  every day unless of course it was scrubs, and honestly I'm just not that excited about sewing scrubs.

Wearing 'Me Made' clothing only on the weekend is not as lofty a challenge as those who are gonna wear handmade items everyday. However, it still puts me in at least 10 (5 weekends in May this year) hand made garments this month which would be the absolute most  "me Made' items I have made or worn in a month ever! So this is a pretty serious challenge for me.

'I, (NaTisha C.  of http://Polite-Choice.blogspot.com ), sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May '15. I endeavor to wear 1 handmade garment each weekend day (Saturday and Sunday) .................for the duration of May 2015'

I apologize in advance for the shoddy picture quality, I was out of town in hotel and only had my Ipad to take pics and not sure why the quality is so grainy but I wanted to post anyway

no pattern used on this purple/gray gradient chiffon maxi skirt. I used a gray knit as the underskirt. This was a super simple skirt to make. I took my waist measurement x 1.5 and used that much fabric. sewed it onto a 3 inch wide piece of elastic the measurement of my waist, hemmed and VOILA!   I got several compliments the day I wore this out to the Casino with my Dad.

Flowered scuba knit pencil skirt. No pattern used (fabric cut based on my waist and hip measurement),and desired length, I hemmed and..Voila!
I have never used scuba knit prior to this skirt but I love the ease in which it sewed and I still have close to 2 yards left of this fabric so I will be making something else soon with it. I purchased a few weeks back from Joann's for $3.50/yd

That's it. Week 1 done!
Talk with yall later!
