When I decided to take the MMM'15 pledge discussed on my previous post here . I modified it so that I would commit to wearing 10 Me Mades' for the month of May (2 item each weekend/or 1 item each weekend day ) . If I happened to get more than that worn or sewn then....Woo Hoo! But I don't do sewing challenges much so I needed to keep it simple and attainable.
Item # 3 McCall's 6843 loose fitting pants
Pattern Description: I made view C which is described as loose fitting pants through hips with side pockets
Pattern Sizing: XS-XXL. I made Large
The wind was blowing outside, even with two additional inches removed these are still big |
Were the instructions easy to follow? They were simple.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? Only 3 pattern pieces, and these types of pants are totally on trend right now. They are long. These would be perfect with heels, I would suggest shortening if you plan to wear with flats.
Fabric Used: Not totally sure. A really lightweight possibly rayon blend of some sort purchased from my local Walmart awhile back
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: OK, these ran really big or I just totally missed the measurements and purchased the wrong size. Large was the smallest size I had so I started with that but I ended up taking a total of 1 inch off of each side seam and I could have taken a bit more.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes
Conclusion: Loved them
One of my friends commented that I was out and about in PJ's.. I know they are super causal looking but pajama pants??. Come on now. What do you all think?
This was kind of a redemption piece for me. I have been in somewhat of a sewing slump but these pants made me feel pretty good about myself. I love them!
Pattern Description: Cuffed Capri pants with side zipper, belt loops, and contoured waistband
Pattern Sizing: I made 16 View A
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? A fairly easy pair of pants to make that does not include elastic in the waist. I liked the waistband and belt carriers. The pants are not as narrow as the picture on the pattern envelope suggest but I knew that already from other reviewers.
Fabric Used: A home Dec textured yellow and tan fabric from Hancock's that I purchased close to 2 yrs ago
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added pockets. I moved the side zip to the back. I omitted the slit in the front waistband. There are some weird pull lines that I need to figure out how to get rid of for the next time. I also need to figure out what type of crotch adjustment I need to make in pants. Once I get that figured out these will be a perfect pair of pants
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I love these pants. I got tons of compliments when I wore them to a church event. Actually about 4 women asked could I make them a pair. I sadly had to give my standard answer. "Sorry I cant. I'm a selfish sewer besides these would be out of style by the time I got around to sewing for you." That last part is true. I am the worlds slowest sewer.
Conclusion: Great pants, I can see dressing them up or down depending on the fabric and styling
I need more work on my zipper skills. I just don't like the look of this zipper, and my invisible zipper skills SUCK! I'm gonna keep practicing though.
Until Next week,
See Y'all later
